Truviso Update Delivers Unique-User Tracking Breakthrough
Continuous Analytics v3.2 Adds Valuable Functions for AdNets and Media Companies
DEFRAG CONFERENCE, DENVER, Colo., Nov. 11, 2009 – Truviso™, the real-time analytics company, today revealed a technology breakthrough that enables advertising networks, web publishers and other providers of digital services to track hundreds of millions of unique users across a variety of dimensions and instantly obtain highly valuable analyses of user interactions. This innovative unique-user tracking feature is part of Truviso’s Continuous Analytics™ software version 3.2, an update that also includes scalability and performance enhancements, higher order analytics functions and other features requested by Internet, mobile, telecom and other digital service providers.
Truviso’s innovative unique-user tracking approach simplifies a highly intensive data processing task to achieve enormous productivity gains over traditional business intelligence and web analytics systems. An online publisher can use this feature to catch instantaneous changes in the popularity of their various assets, optimize content to improve relevance and visitor engagement, and increase advertising impressions to boost revenue. The immediate insight from the system will also help online ad networks track campaign frequency and reach, as well as adjust ad inventory availability in real-time when more ads are served than forecasted.
“Unique-user counts are central to a significant number of metrics and key performance indicators across online and mobile media networks, and are vital to enabling the world’s leading digital service providers to accurately track and measure how their massive visitor populations interact with the services provided,” said Dr. Michael Franklin, CTO and founder of Truviso. “Our unique-user architecture overcomes the challenges faced by traditional data processing systems in a highly efficient and scalable fashion, saving money and time, and creating the foundation for more advanced capabilities such as real-time predictive analytics.”
Truviso Continuous Analytics keeps track of sets of unique visitors for just about any segment or dimension. Unique-user sets are continually updated as new web log, page tag or beacon data is added to the system. The Truviso system provides easy and efficient roll-up of unique visitor counts and sessions, as well as aggregates over time, enabling just about any unique-user computation or segmentation to be available instantly. These functions can be used by developers in any standard SQL query to accurately track individual users for any attribute, time dimension or category. The function enables the queries required for many predictive analytics scoring models to be easily implemented as simple, straightforward operations without expensive and repetitive full table reads.
The massive data growth being experienced by digital media networks has intensified the need to manage data cost-effectively for analysis and storage. Truviso Continuous Analytics v.3.2 reduces data complexity as well as data storage and maintenance costs through its new rolling data management feature that efficiently grooms data, moving old data out of the system on a continuous basis to keep a “recent data” profile, typically between 60 - 120 days. Digital service providers understand that delivering recent data analytics to operational managers and customers is far more important to the business than analyzing all data since the beginning of time, and Truviso’s rolling data management capabilities are a perfect fit for such operational analytics environments. By moving “old” data to a traditional data warehouse or directly to lower cost storage, companies save money by reducing their reliance on expensive systems that store and slowly comb through years of irrelevant data.
Truviso Continuous Analytics version 3.2 also includes robust late-data processing capabilities that ensure accuracy in calculations, even if source data is unavailable for extended periods of time due to source system outages or delays across distributed systems, a common occurrence for many digital service providers. Late data is never dropped or omitted from final reports or calculations. As a result, the Truviso Continuous Analytics solution eliminates the trade off batch processing systems face between maintaining the quality of reports and incurring even higher computational costs when addressing the late data phenomenon – essentially having to re-index and recalculate all reports that were previously generated. Truviso’s novel invention transparently pre-processes all data irrespective of when it arrives in the system, and then combines the pre-processed results “on the fly,” providing up-to-date results that are always correct. This significantly reduces the cost of distributing accurate and timely reports to internal teams as well as to customers and partners.
Truviso has optimized the Continuous Analytics engine (TruCQ) for the latest multi-core architectures, providing massive scalability – even on a single server – to increase performance and throughput and reduce hardware, infrastructure and maintenance costs. This new, highly scalable, data-parallel processing architecture addresses the massive growth in data volume Truviso customers are experiencing, and enables a single eight-core server to process up to 15 terabytes of data daily with near zero latency. Version 3.2 also supports horizontal scalability using cluster configurations to partition query workloads across multiple machines.
Truviso will be demonstrating the new release of the product during the Defrag Conference 2009 in Exhibit Hall. Additionally, Truviso CTO and founder Dr. Michael Franklin will present “Fathoming the Deep Real-Time Web” on Thursday, November 12 as part of the Real-Time Web/Streams group discussion starting at 3:15 p.m.
About Continuous AnalyticsTruviso Continuous Analytics software is based on a revolutionary technology that eliminates the need to batch, store, organize, and retrieve data before it is analyzed. Continuous Analytics enables organizations to instantly query large volumes of both live and stored data to provide actionable insight moments after events occur. Truviso immediately processes and analyzes data as soon as it becomes available, eliminating batch processing delays. World-leading digital media companies use Continuous Analytics to optimize online ad and video content inventories, identify and target users more accurately, and detect anomalies in order to increase revenues and reduce costs.
